Learn how to choose the best light bulb for every fixture in your home.
Energy Efficiency: Lighting
Choosing a light bulb used to be so easy: Simply look at the fixture to determine which incandescent bulb size was recommended (by wattage), then head to the store to purchase that bulb.
Now, however, we have more options as the light bulb industry is transformed with energy-efficient options. Stores have rows and rows of sizes, shapes, and technologies. The choices can be overwhelming.
Recognizing this, your electric cooperative offers a “Right Light Guide” to assist you in buying bulbs. The Right Light Guide was developed by Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERTs), Minnesota. Use this fact sheet as a guide to the types of lamps available, cost to operate, details about brightness and how to read new labels.
